Kevin Nealon has clearly set himself apart from other performers with his unique sense of humor, profound dry wit, and likeable demeanor. As the longest-running cast member in the history of "Saturday Night Live" -- nine seasons -- Nealon is remembered for such well-known characters as The Subliminal Man, Hans and Franz, as well as his stint as the Weekend Update anchor. Some of his other favorite SNL characters and skits were Larry King, Sam Donaldson, Mr. No Depth Perception and Ganon P.I., P.I. In 1988, Nealon received an Emmy nomination as part of the SNL writing team.
Nealon's film credits include appearances in "Happy Gilmore," "The Wedding Singer," "Little Nicky," John Waters' "Cecil B. Demented," and "Roxanne." His television career has encompassed the series "Conspiracy Zone," "Hiller and Diller" and "Champs," as well as guest appearances on "Heartbreakers," "Dharma and Greg," "Third Rock From the Sun," "Three Sisters," and "The Outer Limits." He has been featured in specials on every major cable network and is a regular guest on talk shows including "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Show with David Letterman."
Born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Nealon devoted himself to art and sports, getting his first taste of performing as a teenager in various garage bands. After graduating from Sacred Heart University with a degree in marketing, he spent his time traveling throughout the United States and Europe. Eventually, he settled in Los Angeles at what he refers to as "a career in part-time jobs."
After several grueling years on the nightclub circuit, Nealon finally made it to "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" in 1984. Simply put, his stand-up killed that night. In fact, after a commercial break, Carson passed over his final guest and invited Nealon back out to sit on the panel – considered a true benchmark in any comedian's career. In the summer of 1986, Nealon's friend Dana Carvey was contacted by "Saturday Night Live" and eventually recruited as a cast member. Carvey recommended Nealon, who was hired that same year as a writer and featured performer, making the move to full-time cast member in the 1987-88 season.
Residing in the Lake Tahoe area, Nealon spends his spare time protecting animal interests and donating time to local shelters. Most recently, he was seen on the big screen in "Anger Management" with Adam Sandler, Jack Nicholson, John Turturro, Marisa Tomei and John C. Reilly; "Daddy Day Care," with Eddie Murphy; and "Good Boy," with Liam Atkins and Molly Shannon.
